Mainaguri is a Town and a Municipality in the Jalpaiguri Sadar subdivision of the Jalpaiguri district in the state of West Bengal, India. It is known as the "Gateway of the Dooars" and is a regionally significant tourist destination for "Jalpesh Temple" of Lord Shiva and nearby Gorumara National Park. The Municipality has been extablished in the year of 2021. Maynaguri is mainly governed by Mainaguri Municipality. Maynaguri covers 17 wards spread across Madhabdanga-I and Maynaguri panchayats and parts of Khagrabari-I and Domohoni-I panchayats of Maynaguri CD block. Mainaguri lies in the Northeast Frontier Railway zone of the Indian Railways. There are railway links to the rest of the country directly and via Kolkata. The major railway junction of New Jalpaiguri (Code:NJP) is 45 km from the town. New Mainaguri railway station (NMX) serves the town directly. Another rail station of this city is Maynaguri Road Railway Station (MYGD). It is about 5 km from the city. Maynaguri Road station is an important station of Malbazar-Changrabandha. Previously it was known as Doars railway. Mainaguri Road station is also 'Y' connected with New Maynaguri and New Domohoni rail station.
Maynaguri Municipality with the active cooperation of citizens for the last many years has grown up as a capable and robust institute for effective service delivery and better governance. During these years the shape and the socio-cultural atmosphere of the Municipality have changed to an unimaginable extent and gradually it too has imbibed the spirit of the contemporary civilization of the 21st century and got acquanted with the sphere of Modernization, Industrialisation, and Globalisation.
1. To ensure people's participation, ward committees in all wards have been formed and they are actively working in the execution of various schemes.
2. We run a transparent administration in every sphere of activities.
3. Our ULB prioritizes the developmental work in slum areas where the poorest stakeholders are concentrated.
4. We try to uplift the economic standards of women of the economically backward sections.
5. Computerized Tax Collection System & Financial Accounting System are running effectively and Mutation, Birth & Death registration, and Trade Enlistment are also Computerized as a part of E-Governance.
6. We are also going to start some online services with our own enterprises such as Online Cess pool Booking, Online Auditorium Hall Booking, and Online Drinking Water Tank Booking.
7. To ensure standard services, the Citizens Charter has been framed with citizens feed back after conducting workshops in the wards..
8. We are organising cultural events to ensure cultural activites for creating better social environment.
9. This ULB maintains 2 parks to provide a healthy environment to our citizens.
10. Mid-Day - Meal activities are going on in the schools.
11. We have been able to provide Water Supply to the residents.
12. House-to-house garbage collection in each ward is being done for a long time.
13. We have already taken measures to stop illegal unauthorized constructions by way of phase-wise plan sanctions.
14. Sincere efforts are on to help the unemployed youth to earn a respectable livelihood. We have already formed 302 self-help groups.

Sited in the heart of dense forest of Dooars region is the sojourn for nature lover called Ramsai. Ramsai is a quaint forest village located at a distance of 25km from Maynaguri in the Jalpaiguri district on the Eastern side of Gorumara National Park. Gorumara National Park is known for its astounding number of Asiatic one-horned Rhino. Endowed with abundance of flora and fauna, Ramsai has gained its prominence in the field of Dooars Tourism. Tourists are attracted towards this quaint forest village Ramsai for its serene ambiance and scenic beauty.
Enclosed by lush tea garden and dense semi-tropical forest, the journey towards Ramsai is filled with the pictorial view of changing landscape. The roads leading toward Ramsai take the tourists through the paddy field towards the land dotted with tall Sal trees midst the rolling meadow of lavish tea garden. The view of sparkling river stream meandering through the thick forest enclosing Ramsai is truly a glorious sight to be adorned after reaching Ramsai. Located at the periphery of Gorumara National Park sighting of wild animals is a frequent occurrence in Ramsai. Tourists who want to spend some quality time in the core of jungle can lodge in the Ramsai Rhino Camp where they can get the true essence of wilderness.
Build around the year 320 AD to 600 AD by the Gupta rulers, Jatileswar temple is one of the oldest temple in the North Bengal Region. It is located just about 15 KM away from Mayhnaguri Town. The temple holds lots of historical significance. The temple is dedicated to the Lord shiva as Baba Jatileswar.and attracts thousands of pilgrims and tourists every year. Being around 1000 years old , the temple is truly epitome of Inida's medieval architectural distiction.
The temple was built using stones & clay bricks and sculpted with the figure of several Hindu Gods in the walls.
Jalpesh Temple was founded by Bisu Singh of Cooch Behar in A.D. 1524. His son, Maharaja Narayan, rebuilt the temple in A.D. 1563. Pran Narayan in turn rebuilt the temple in A.D. 1663.
The Jalpesh Temple is approximately 3 kilometres from away Mainaguri 26°31′32″N 88°52′1″E, and is dedicated to Lord Jalpeshwar (Siva). The temple was built in a style akin to Islamic architecture. Inside the temple, there is a Shivling called 'Anadi'. Mahashivaratri is the main festival celebrated in this temple, which is 126 feet high and 120 feet wide. Pilgrims come during Sravani Mela in July–August and during the fair of Jalpesh Mela in February–March to offer special puja to Siva. After worshipping, devotees, whose number reach approximately 1.2 million, collect water from River Teesta and walk barefoot 15 kilometres to the temple.
